About Us
Global Initiative to Advance Entrepreneurship (GIVE) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that was founded to address urban poverty in the developing world. Over the past 15 years, we’ve pursued projects in Indonesia, Cambodia and the United States that focused on teaching basic entrepreneurial skills as a means of alleviating global poverty.
Goals for our programs include:
Bring entrepreneurial training to low-income communities
Rely on proven models to guide and promote initiatives
Connect aspiring entrepreneurs with business resources
Attract interested individuals and investors
Create business partnerships around the world
GIVE is currently supporting projects in the United States and SE Asia that combine entrepreneurship as a means to both alleviate poverty and address local social and environmental challenges.
Animal Welfare (SE Asia)
At present GIVE is supporting the work of street cat caregiver individuals in Thailand with the goal of creating a self-sustaining network of small entrepreneurs who can fill a gap in social services.
GIVE hopes to form a strategic alliance with US-based animal welfare groups who will assist with expertise and resources to help establish a solution to the plight of hundreds of thousands of street cats that face starvation or eradication, all while creating jobs that address this issue.
Steven Van Yoder
Founder and Executive Director
Steven founded the Global Initiative to Advance Entrepreneurship (GIVE) in 2005 after several trips to Asia. During his travels, he encountered widespread and often extreme poverty that led to profound human suffering and deprived individuals, families, communities, and entire countries of achieving their full potential.
